Bradenton beach, approximately 16 miles north of more recognizable Sarasota, but more quaint and cozy with that small town beach feel. The waters are azure and clear for miles while the sand is a powdery white. Unlike the slightly chilly waters of the Pacific, the Gulf waters are almost bath temperature warm. You won’t see too many scantily clad sun worshippers here, but mostly families and older frequenters of this beach community. The Silver Surf resort is a small but perfect location right across the street from the beach and central to both Anna Maria island and Bradenton Beach.

For some local eats, there’s the Beach House, which of course is right on the beach so you can enjoy the sound of the waves crashing as well as a delectable seafood roll comprised of lobster, shrimp, and crab that comes with contrasting texture of crispy housemade kettle chips for a side

Then if you’re a brunch fan like myself, just a few miles up the rode is Sage Biscuit Cafe where Bloody Mary’s and specials like duck fat Benedict make for a perfect Sunday morning.

So far Bradenton is my favorite golf coast town. Lastly, there’s Anna Maria pier where local catch is served at nearby restaurants and an afternoon stroll on the pier might allow you a glimpse of a manatee but definitely a beautiful sunset. This isn’t the pier, but nearby Cortez beach where there are picnic tables, changing rooms, and even a playground, definitely family friendly. The sunsets are just as breathtaking…
