Long Boat Key is similar to the Carolina’s Outer Banks found on the out skirts of Florida’s western shores. It’s slow and quiet here and you won’t find much to do but sit back on the beach with it’s sparkling aqua ombre like colored waters. There is a new contemporary style resort, Zota right on the beach that has an infinity like pool over looking the beach.

Like I said, there’s not much to do here, so it’s perfect for a few days of tranquility. What’s nice is just 30 to 40 minutes north or south, you can drop into Bradenton heading north or Sarasota down south to fulfill your epicurean needs. “Shore” found in downtown Sarasota, has an open air second floor. They’ve dressed up Florida’s popular local catch, Grouper with a miso glaze and coconut Jasmine rice.
